There is no shame in admitting that sometimes we are lost and do not know where to head our lives anymore. If you are OK with that thought then you are halfway done.
The next thing is to learn what to do about it, and the second and final part is to put what you have learned into practice.
Can give you a hand on the first one by recommending you some of the Self Help Books for Men that have helped me to turn my life around, and they can help you too.
In no real particular order:
Table of Contents
10- Unf*ck Yourself
The long version of the title reads: Get out of Your Head and into Your Life, and that is exactly what the book is about. Maybe you have been trapped in a toxic relationship, in an awful job, or in a place you do not want to be. Well, firstly you need to put your head in order and fight will all you got towards your goals. This may very well be the final click you need to do it. This one is one of the best self-help books for mental health overall.
A very recommended read, having more than 6500 reviews on Amazon with close to a 70% positive score, this book already changed the lives of some. Why not yours too?
9- Make Your Bed
With a simple title, the author William H. McRaven knows how to deliver an inspiring story. “Making the bed is the key to start your day with the right foot and turn it towards being productive straight away”. It may sound like not much, but the action of starting your day by already doing something that feels so good will be with you throughout the day.
Not content with one, McRaven has nine more simple tasks that can start to change your life, a small step each time comes a long way.
8- Stop Doing That Sh*t
Another book by Gary John Bishop, the writer of -Unfu*k Yourself- strikes again to continue building upon his message of taking responsibility on our own self-abusing thoughts that slow us down. In Stop Doing That Sh*t, Gary taught me how to stop self-sabotaging behavior.
Talking about the people that may surround us, the world we live in, the money, the work that does not fulfill us…
And he takes it personally this time, I highly recommend that you listen to the audiobook version of this one. In every word, you can feel how he is talking to YOU.
7- The Man in the Mirror
Also known as “Solving the 24 Problems Men Face”, this book is very self-explanatory. Modern men are faced with difficult issues, hardships, and expectations that we have not even anticipated nor existed a few years back. This book was published in 1989 but still feels contemporary.
The author is a known Christian so you can expect a few references to the Holy Bible here and there, but they do not take away from the conversation nor drag on for too long.
6- You Are a Badass
Written by Jen Sincero (Meaning sincere, in Spanish) this book contains 27 separate anecdotes. Using the well-known and studied means of laughter, Jen gives us a deep dive into ourselves while talking to us in a friendly manner, meaning that our walls are caught off-guard and only when the full blow of the message has already been delivered to our psyche we realize that it happened. This is one very good self-help book for husbands.
Majestic writing there, Jen.
5- How to Make Sh*t Happen
They love to swear huh.
Sean Whalen brought us a complex analysis of the world we live in, and what we expect from ourselves as well. As he mentions in the book; millions of other persons, not only guys, are struggling daily for a lack of self-control and money problems in the modern world.
Some of us needed to learn How to Make Sh*t Happen, how to bounce back to the path of life, and how to become the best at it, and here Whalen explains with personal examples how he did it.
4- Anger Management Workbook for Men
Another quite self-explanatory title, this one targets another complex topic that a lot of men struggle with constantly.
Not only it will give you the power to calm yourself down at any difficult moment, you will also have quite more control over your whole emotional response afterward. If you have a child, this self-help books for dads
3- The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck
A work from Mark Manson, this book rapidly became one of the best sellers of its kind. With more than 26 thousand ratings and an overall score of 4.6 stars in addition to being free in the audiobook format of Audible, there is just no reason not to continue giving a F*ck after this read.
2- Can’t Hurt Me
The author, David Goggins, had quite an impressive life. Being a Navy SEAL and a marathon runner with some important awards behind his back, he also stood up from the bottom of the bottom meanwhile.
His work teaches you how to adopt disciplinary lifestyles that lead him from a poor childhood to a comfortable life now. The secret to archive that? Hard. Work.
But if you want the extended version, you need to read that.
1- Awaken the Gigant Within
Finally, my favorite of the list but not necessarily the best one.
Tony Robbins is considered the master of unlocking the hidden potential in oneself. It is also the cheapest book of the list, so you can start to change your life right now for less than the cost of a meal out. There are NO excuses.
