As we live in this world where global warming, pollution is high, living natural and healthy has become one of today’s most important needs. What better way to live a healthy life than to have a fresh and natural (not market processed and fertilizers, chemicals free). To do this, you only need to grow some handful of veggies in your lawn, garden, balcony.
You don’t have to be an expert in this field to grow vegetables on your own. Just a few tips and tricks will do the work and you can also find articles researches online to know more about the conditions necessary to grow vegetables.

The first on the list are the vegetables that are easiest to grow
- Lettuce and other salad greens

It can be grown in winter and summer. It will start giving to results in 2 to 3 months. Use fertilizers rich in nutrients especially made for tomatoes. They need proper sun for 6-7 hours daily. Watering well is a must to avoid cracked fruits. Keep in mind to plant the tomatoes deep inside so that the roots can get a firm hold of the soil.
They come in varieties of form and are susceptible to pests. Beans do best in well-drained soil and are not a big fan of nutrition-rich soil. Soil should always be moist for beans to grow faster. Sow the seeds 1 inch deep inside the soil. Seed should be 2-4 inches apart from each other.
Full of benefits this crop does not require much as a root vegetable. They need well-drained soil and full sun to grow within 2-3 months. The area where you grow carrots should be stones free and they love sandy soils. They should be planted directly into the soil 3-4 inches apart. Carrots need moist soil especially in the early weeks of growing so try to cover them with mulch.
Those of you live in cold countries this one is for you. Spinach can survive in cold temperatures. They are early spring/ fall crops. There is no need for fertilizers for this crop. Good quality soil will zero clay content will be enough. Sow your seeds half inches deep in the ground. Harvesting this vegetable does not require any skills you will know when to harvest by looking at the spinach only.
This one is best for beginners as it doesn’t require much knowledge. Hot weather, moist soil, and nutrition-rich soil are all that is required for this growth to growing. Before planting the crop keep in mind that you prepare the soil full of nutrients as cucumber needs a lot of nutrients to grow. The soil needs to be 70o F or hotter for germination. Cucumber needs a lot of water to grow so keep this in mind.
And now comes fast-growing vegetables
Beets are a refreshing vegetable that also helps you in increasing your blood in the body. They are very easy to grow and in no time you will get the results. You can plant the beets in late summers because they don’t love too hot temperatures. Beets can be harvested within 50 days and if you have planted greens they can be harvested within a month or so. They grow well in zones 2-10.
I love okra. They are my favorite vegetables. They can be matured within 50-55 days of planting the crop. They can be planted in zone3 to 10. The leaves of Okra are 10-20 cm long and broad. They thrive in warmer temperatures.
- Kale/ Greens
Kale is also a very healthy vegetable. They love cold temperatures and are the fastest to grow. You can pick baby greens only in 25 days. And if you want matures leaves then wait for 50 to 55 days to eat them. People living in zone 8 to 10 can grow this vegetable.
If you are a lover of broccoli then you should be happy to know that broccoli is very easy to grow and they can withstand cold temperatures. You can have baby broccoli in 60 days. They can flourish in a 3- 10 zone area.
- Green Onions
If you are a lover of onion flavor and love to have it in everything you eat. Then there is good news for you because green onions grow very fast and they are refreshing in taste as well. You plant onions in bulbs and then they grow into onions. Green onions can be ready to eat within 20-30 days and if you wait a little more then you get full-size onion in 6 months. They grow in the 3-9 zone.
Potatoes grow in potato bags and plant them late February and March. Keep watering them from time to time and cover the bags with compost from time to time.
They are very easy to grow put the seeds directly into the soil from March to June and enjoy the results in 2-3 months.
- Broad beans
They are also pretty easy to grow to sow them in the soil in 7.5 cm compost and watch them grow. Sow them from November to March and get results in June onwards.
- Yellow summer squash
Yellow summer squash is another easiest vegetable to grow. They need direct sunlight so plant them where they can get ample sun. Plant them with compost in well-drained soil in summers. You can harvest in 45-65 days.
- Bell peppers
Another flavorful, colorful vegetable very easy to grow. Plant them where they can get ample sunlight. Plant them in well-drained soil and make sure to compost. Place them 4-6 inches apart.
These herbs can be grown in pots or grounds. Put them directly in the ground in well-drained soil. The best time to plant them is in June when the plant grows to a certain height -pluck the leaves and use it and also enjoy the fragrance.
Another one for those who love the flavor of garlic and it is best to boost immunity. In mid- Autumn tuck the cloves in cover the soil bed with mulch to avoid pests once the bulbs grow to store them in. it is one of the easiest crops.
Plant this in any pot or container that can hold 5 inches depth and is strong. They grow best in well-drained sandy loam soil. The ph of soil should be between 5.8 and 6.5.
